The 5-minute winter storm
Mar. 18th, 2004 04:12 pmSeattle weather can be so weird at times.
At 3:00, I walked across the street to go to a meeting. It was bright and sunny out, and I was remarking on how nice the weather was; it was perfectly comfortable, with no need for a jacket.
At 3:30, I was sitting in the meeting, and the sun went behind a cloud. It got darker out. Suddenly, it began rain, snow, sleet, and hail, simultaneously. Four distinct types of precipitation were falling -- or more of blowing, since the wind was going so hard as to make the precipitation nearly horizontal. Due to the size of the windows in the meeting room, it made a tremendous racket.
In the middle of all of this, the sun came out again. So it was now raining, snowing, sleeting, hailing, and sunny out, all at once.
5 minutes after it began, it ended. It's now sunny and clear out again... but on the walk back from the meeting, I discovered it's also windy and cold now.
