Well, looks like we still won't have DSL until next Wednesday, June 6th. Apparently, they went to install DSL at our new address and discovered that we still had DSL installed at our old address. Apparently, three weeks notice wasn't long enough for the morons to remove it, and it was instead scheduled for removal tomorrow, May 30th (which is still when it will be removed). Nice of them to continue providing DSL to an empty apartment for two weeks. Once it's removed from our old address, they can start on installing it at our new address. Of course, it didn't occur to them to, say, call us and tell us about the additional week of delay -- I had to call them and spend half an hour on the phone to find any of this out. At least this person did try to figure out all of it, and put through an expedited order effective tomorrow (when the DSL comes off the old place) to get our DSL installed, and explained what was taking them so long.

Apparently, they have a system designed by drunk monkeys. To do a move, they must first move the phone line (takes days, of course), then terminate DSL on the old line (which takes several more days), then line test and install DSL on the new line (which takes more days). Despite these being three independent operations, the computer won't let them place an order for these until its prerequisites are already complete. Thus, they're done in series, as they would be done by morons, rather than in parallel, as they would be done by intelligent human beings.

Well, at least we have dialup for the remaining 8 days before we get DSL.
